It was the second quietest day of the year for trading on the New York Stock Exchange.The Dow Jones industrial average fell 38.27 points, or 0.2 percent, to 17,001.22. The Standard Poor 500 index lost 3.97 points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,988.40 and the Nasdaq composite added 6.45 points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,538.55.Even with Friday modest losses, it was a strong week for the stock market.
