Amanda Sourry, chairman of Unilever UK said: "By continuing to offer all of our employees a Reebok Green And White career average pension plan on their earnings up to 48,000, around 80pc of our people will be fully covered by a defined benefit scheme. In addition, almost 90pc of our affected UK employees will retain 80pc or more of the pension they would have previously expected.
Strikes are taking place on different days throughout the period and the sites aren't each on strike for the whole duration.
In a statement today Unilever said: "Whilst we fully respect the right of our employees to protest about the changes we are planning to make to our UK pensions arrangements, we remain deeply concerned by the disproportionate action the trade unions are taking.
The Unite union today said workers at Unilever factories across the country including the Colman's factory in Norwich would start 10 days of strikes across the UK from Wednesday over changes to the company's pension scheme.
