Airmen dove to the bottom of the marina and under the docks searching in low visibility water for trash and items that could be polluting the waters. They came across various items from a small and corroded screw driver to a fiber glass paneling from a pontoon boat.

With the assistance and donated gear from the Hurlburt Field Dive Club, Airmen conducted a routine search and recovery dive sweeps of the waterways, combining volunteer work with essential military training.

"A commercial diving team would easily have a charge of $200 $300/hour for this service, the operators looked as this as a golden opportunity for experience and to practice their underwater diving skills."

"It is very important for the STTS Airmen to gain the essential skills of a combat scuba diver," said Gray. "It's also important to show that the STTS Airmen are happy to give back to the environment and the Hurlburt Field community."
