"We've been growing 60 to 70 percent a year for the past two years and knew we were going to outgrow our facility," Goodsel said. "We couldn't find anything reasonable and so we started looking outside California.
"I've already met more entrepreneurs, especially on the manufacturing side, who'll talk to you and help you out. In California, you kept your head down and it was every man for himself. Here, it's a small network but it's a strong network of other business owners."

In the effort to get California firms to consider relocating to Northern Nevada, younger businesses are more likely to make the switch because they don't have the same roots as more established places.
He cited the University of Nevada, Reno's electrical engineering program and technical schools around the area. (He even hopes to get some internships going with the schools.)
