In two weeks, a new marketing campaign from Southeast Technical Institute aimed at increasing awareness about technical education and boosting student recruitment will hit the Sioux Falls area."We were looking at technical education this summer, to try and determine how we could do a better job of getting the word out," STI President Jeff Holcomb told Sioux Falls School Board members last week. "One of the big challenges of technical education is helping parents and students know the opportunities, the options that exist for them in a technical career, and how that could be a very, very good choice for them."STI is working with Forward Sioux Falls, which is an economic development partnership of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. Forward Sioux Falls gave the tech school $30,000 toward the campaign, with matching funds provided by area businesses and industry partners through the STI Foundation totaling more than $60,000."The idea is that we will not only approach students on aone to one basis, but also, we're going to do a media campaign," Holcomb said.
