The City will also continue to bypass not completely treated water from the water treatment system to stop the excess water from overflowing the lagoons.
The height of the storm was late Sunday when the storm system was working the hardest.
"Water doesn't always flow as quickly in the direction that we would like and some of our older infrastructure isn't set up that current best practices would have it set up."

With just under 80 millimeters or about three inches of rain, the City of Regina didn't get as much rain as some areas in Saskatchewan but there was flooding. Unfortunately, the City can't do much about it all until the rain stops.

Insurance often doesn't cover overland flooding, so PDAP may help with that. O'Connor said it will go to the City and, once approved, will be given to the province. And he said he's confident the event meets the criteria. Anyone with overland flooding who thinks they may qualify should take safety precautions and do what they need to ensure mould doesn't grow. O'Connor suggests they document and take lots of pictures of what they're throwing out, so they can prove to adjusters.
As the waste water treatment plant is still bypassing and pumping into Wascana Creek, and because a storm of this kind 'scrubs' the ground, sending all kinds of contaminants into the storm sewer system, people are advised to avoid flooded parks and pathways. Henning Hill says we should assume the water is contaminated, just to be on the safe side.
